Fodara Vedla (mt.1980)

A place with a history rich in romance and hope, which has overcome the events of two terrible wars with optimism and pride. Easy to reach. Take the car and, following the state road, go past Cortina towards Dobbiaco; shortly after, on the left at Fiames, park and take the shuttle that takes you up to Malga Ra Stua (1695 m). Alternatively, you can walk up to the Malga (60’), parking at the small S.Uberto parking lot, 4 km after the shuttle station. Malga Ra Stua, particularly welcoming, is the starting point for many walks: Fodara Vedla is one of them. With your backpack on, keep to the left and follow the old carriage road, which climbs through the woods and then onto a plateau, leading you to Fodara Vedla (about 90’). Fodara Vedla is particularly welcoming, the area is frequented by families and children, and the Refuge serves delicious food. Enjoy a good meal and sunbathe on the meadows. Don’t miss a visit to the little church, erected by the Mutschlechner family in thanks for the return of their sons from the wars: a beautiful page of history.
